Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses traditional ultrasound technology to tone, firm, and elevate your skin without downtime. Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. Loeb delivers precisely targeted energy pulses deep below the surface of the skin, stimulating the growth of new collagen, and reviving the elasticity of the collagen you already have. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein that gives skin its color, texture, and vibrancy. The results of Ultherapy treatment are not visible all at once, but develop steadily over time, so that no one will guess that you had a cosmetic procedure. To others, you will simply look increasingly rested, refreshed, and replenished.

Planning

During your initial one-on-one consultation, Dr. Loeb will review with you the details of the Ultherapy treatment. Because it uses ultrasound imaging, it allows Dr. Loeb to view the underlying soft tissue that is being affected. The heat pulses target the deep foundation under the skin that is typically addressed by cosmetic surgeries, such as a face lift. With Ultherapy, however, there is no cutting or disturbing of the skin surface. Instead, sound waves cause the skin to contract and tighten, while the body’s natural process of collagen repair is initiated.

Procedure

Dr. Loeb administers Ultherapy in NYC his private surgical suite located on Fifth Avenue. Because there is no pain and minimal to no discomfort, no anesthetic is required beforehand. The process is not much different from the common ultrasound procedure used for expectant mothers. Your skin is cleaned and an ultrasound gel is applied. Dr. Loeb operates a smooth handpiece that he places on the surface of your skin, and which he guides according to the screen images showing the deep structural support layers of the skin. Through the handpiece, Dr. Loeb delivers energy pulses to precisely calibrated depths, gauged to ensure maximum impact. The procedure lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Recovery

There is no downtime whatsoever after Ultherapy treatment, and you can immediately return to work and resume all normal activities. Some patients may appear flushed or red after the procedure, but these effects will fade within hours. Because Ultherapy works by stimulating the body’s natural healing and cellular regeneration process, the effects of the procedure may take 2 to 3 months to manifest, with many of Dr. Loeb’s patients reporting continued improvement for 6 months or more. The benefits may last for up to 2 years.

Related Procedures

In addition to Ultherapy treatment, some of Dr. Loeb’s patients choose to explore other non-surgical skin rejuvenating procedures such as dermabrasion, TiteFx, chemical peels, Fractora, or laser resurfacing.
