Deep Plane Facelift

The technique I use for almost all Neck and Facelifts uses an extensive and at least one and a half times as much undermining and lifting of the skin than the DEEP PLANE or tradition SMAS lift.

In that way I can get rid of the loose skin and use the natural contours and redrape in a much better and safer fashion than the Deep Plane lift and even the usual SMAS lift.The typical SMAS lift is limited because it cannot go nearly as far forward as I do because it would cause nerve injury in an unacceptable percentage of patients!  

That problem also exists in the DEEP PLANE lift which combines the SMAS nerve risk but adds way more risk  by going deeper and farther forward.  

They want to go farther forward so they can get the skin results I do but the nerve injury rate is quite significant. Additionally the DEEP PLANE and many SMAS techniques use stitches in the cheek and midface are which I have so often seen leave irregularities, pulls and un-natural contours.The typical DEEP PLANE also does not address the temporal and lateral  eyelid/forehead in nearly as effective and natural way as I do….it usually has a pre-temporal hairline incision where my technique goes back in the hair and makes a natural rotation flap that you cannot see!Most DEEP PLANE lifters are aggressive in suturing the neck muscles together in the middle.  

I believe in liposuctioning and completely undermining that skin area but 90% don’t need the muscles sutured together…after all nature never had them sutured together even when you were a kid!DEEP PLANE and SMAS do not last longer.  I first did SMAS 40 years ago and DEEP PLANE 35 years ago!Sometimes Buccal fat pads need removal.  The jowl and neck line always needs contouring. Sometimes I do minor fat injection(minor!) and usually I do some central face, perioral area resurfacing with PINS, LASERS or Chemical PEELS….but that is a big discussion in itself.In all my cases I do the consultation, photography, preop discussion and marking(45 Minutes) and of course all injections and of course surgery…every stitch and 90% of the time all suture removal and post op visits as well as taking CALL with the patient having my cell number.
