Botox

New York City cosmetic surgeon Dr. Thomas Loeb offers Botox and other facial fillers, volumizers and skin rejuvenation treatments at his private office on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Botox is an injectable treatment used to restore a youthful, relaxed appearance to the skin by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and adding volume to areas that have become creased over time due to underlying muscle contractions. Botox injections are same day or even “lunchtime” procedures— they are quick, painless, highly effective, and have you back to work immediately. Patients commonly choose Botox and other similar injectables such as Dysport to smooth and refresh the skin on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the lips, beneath the chin, and in the crow’s feet area near the eyes. Botox is considered a temporary filler, and produces results that can last for three to four months before a touch-up session may be required.

Patients may choose a Botox treatment to minimize the following problem areas:

  • Frown lines that appear between the eyebrows
  • Deep creases across the forehead
  • Crow’s feet in the outer corners of the eyes
  • Lines below the chin and around the neck

During your private consultation at his office suite on New York City’s Upper East Side, Dr. Loeb will explain that depth of wrinkles, skin tone and thickness of the skin will all play a role in the final results. Botox may also be used to counteract excessive sweating in the underarms, palms, and soles of the feet.

Procedure

Dr. Loeb administers Botox injections in his Manhattan office. He uses a very fine needle to place the Botox solution directly into facial muscles, whose normal contractions are responsible for the formation of wrinkles. Most patients experience little to no discomfort during the procedure, and do not require topical anesthetic prior to the injections. Treatment generally takes only a few minutes to complete, depending on how many areas will be treated and the depth of the wrinkles to be addressed. Crow’s feet may take up to three injections to achieve desired results, while deeper furrows across the brow or between the eyebrows may take up to five. Dr. Loeb chooses the locations for the Botox injections carefully to ensure the maximum effect of smoothness, while preserving natural facial expressions.

Recovery

Botox side effects and risks are minimal and there is no downtime after Botox treatments, making this a “lunch hour” facial rejuvenation procedure. You may have slight swelling or bruising at the injection site, which will dissipate on its own. Dr. Loeb may instruct you to refrain from lying down for a number of hours after the procedure, to prevent bruising. Results from Botox can usually be fully seen 48 hours, and continue for up to five months. Dr. Loeb guarantees the results for four months.
