Brow Lift

NYC plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas Loeb performs facial plastic surgery in his private office on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Sagging eyelids and drooping eyebrows are the results of aging, sun exposure, gravity, and even stress.  A brow lift can help revitalize the face by firming the upper eyelids, opening up the eyes, and smoothing forehead lines. The overall effect of a brow lift procedure is a more youthful and refreshed appearance–see for yourself with these brow lift before and after photos.

Planning a brow lift in New York City

An initial private consultation with prominent NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Thomas Loeb, provides a complete overview of the brow lift process. Using information about your health history and some old pictures, the doctor will develop a plan that fits in accordance with the unique nature of your skin, bone structure, facial soft tissue, muscle dynamics and areas around the eyelids.

After carefully explaining the procedure, he will then answer any questions you may have. If fine lines and wrinkles are visible on the forehead, you may wish to review related procedures such as laser treatment with the doctor. Patients commonly undergo more than one procedure at a time in order to achieve their ideal final result.

Procedure

There are several variations of brow lift procedures which Dr. Loeb will thoroughly review and recommend the most appropriate for your individual needs. He may suggest a classic procedure called a coronal forehead lift, or a limited incision technique, such as an endoscopic brow lift using a video camera and small incisions in the hairline. A temporal brow lift is a method that uses incisions within the hairline above the tail of the brow. Regardless of the chosen technique, the lift is completed by elevating and repositioning underlying muscles and deep tissues and removing excess skin.

In some cases, Dr. Loeb may recommend a fat transfer, or a laser resurfacing procedure to further refresh the skin’s appearance. The brow lift and any related procedures are performed in the doctor’s private, surgical suite and typically take between one and three hours.

Recovery

After your procedure in Dr. Loeb’s private Manhattan surgical suite, you will be released to a friend or family member.  You may expect mild swelling, which typically subsides after seven to ten days. During the recovery process, you can use cold compresses to help keep the swelling down.

Dr. Loeb typically recommends seven to ten days for recovery; however, if your brow lift procedure is combined with another procedure, he may advise that you take some additional time to heal. Most patients can typically engage in light aerobic exercise within five to seven days following the brow lift.

After ten days, sutures will be removed. The doctor will also take care to advise you of post-treatment skin care including recommendations about the best available products and using antioxidants to keep your skin looking its freshest.

Hair usually grows well at the incision site, concealing the old scar from view.

Related procedures in NYC

Some people who have a brow lift may opt to do so in conjunction with an upper eyelid lift in order to remove sagging and signs of aging. A brow lift may also be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as chemical peels or injections of Botox or Dysport, or may be performed in concert with laser treatments, fat transfer, or facelift.
