Botox and Breast Augmentation Amongst the Most Popular Cosmetic Procedures

Nearly 1,498,361 cosmetic procedures were performed in the U.S. in 2022, 90% of which were minimally invasive procedures, such as Botox or other filler injections, chemical peels, and laser skin resurfacing.

Though surgeries are on a slight decline, more minimally invasive procedures, such as Botox and chemical peels, are increasing dramatically, by at least 120% over the same period. Part of the reason may be financial: while the average cosmetic surgical procedure costs $3694, the average minimally invasive procedure costs $376.

As ASPS president Malcolm Z. Roth explains, “Patients want quick fixes with minimal or no down time.” Use of injectables like Restylane, Juvederm, and Botox “can offer dramatic improvement for many with less risk, cost and down time.”

In 2022 in the U.S., 1.4 million cosmetic surgeries were performed. Upper arm and lower body lifts have increased in popularity by and enormous 4000% since 2000, an increase that is due in part to a growth in bariatric, or weight loss, surgery. Breast lifts are rising in popularity as well as tummy tucks, which also increased by 75%.
