In the past, buttock augmentation usually meant synthetic implants to add size and shape to the backside. Today, natural results can be achieved by using the patient’s own cells to add volume.
Autologous fat transfer for the buttocks, known as the Brazilian butt lift, is the procedure of choice for many New Yorkers today. Here are three reasons to consider a Brazilian butt lift over traditional implants to achieve the contours you desire.
Autologous fat transfer begins with the removal of excess fat from another area of the body, often the midsection or hips. Removal is done via liposuction that uses a small cannula to loosen fat deposits and gently suction away fat cells. These cells are then harvested and injected into the buttocks to create more volume. The advantage of the two-step procedure is that you sculpt one area while augmenting another for even more dramatic results.
The fat that is removed does not return to the area where liposuction was performed, giving you permanent body contouring results as long as a healthy weight is maintained after surgery. In addition, the buttocks will keep their new fullness for many years, even permanently for some patients.
Butt augmentation with implants requires incisions in the buttock tissue. Incisions mean post-operative scarring. Though strategically placed to be less noticeable, the incisions will still leave some scarring. By contrast, a Brazilian butt lift is performed using injections, so there is no post-operative scarring to worry about.
Because liposuction uses a very small cannula to remove fat, incisions for this procedure are minimal as well. In fact, most liposuction incisions don’t require sutures, and instead use a compression dressing to promote healing.
A Brazilian butt lift uses the body’s own cells for augmentation, eliminating the need for both incisions and a synthetic implant to be placed in the buttock tissue. Local anesthesia is used during the liposuction portion of the procedure, and no further anesthesia is required for the injections into the buttocks. This results in a lower risk of complications for the patient.
At the same time, buttock augmentation using autologous fat transfer produces the most natural look and feel to the backside. Multiple injections are placed in strategic areas around the buttocks to ensure results are balanced, symmetrical and proportionate to the rest of the body.
A Brazilian butt lift is a good choice for many patients who want a more voluptuous backside. To learn more about this and other body contouring procedures in NYC, contact Dr. Thomas Loeb’s Fifth Avenue office at 212-327-3700.
