Breast Augmentation NYC - Manhattan Plastic Surgeon
AESTHETIC NEWS
Breast augmentation in NYC and the rest of the nation is still the most popular cosmetic surgery. Last year, approximately 286,000 Americans had their breasts enhanced. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says there are many reasons women may elect this surgery.
Some are bothered by the feeling that their breasts are too small, while others are frustrated with clothing that never fits, or feel extremely self-conscious in a bathing suit. Women may also seek this procedure if they have recently lost weight, resulting in the breasts changing size and shape, or post-partum for breasts that have lost some of their firmness. Lastly, there are women who have a natural irregularity in the size of one breast, leaving it smaller than the other one.
A new study published in the May issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, provides encouraging news for women who may be considering breast augmentation surgery.
The average patient was 34 years old and received 390 cc of saline. Most significantly, the study found that 98% of women undergoing breast augmentation surgery say the results “met” or “exceeded” their expectations. Furthermore, 92% of patients reported improvements in self-esteem and 64% reported improvement in quality of life following their surgeries.
“After a woman gets breast implants, she feels sexy,” Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas W. Loeb told the NY Times. Not surprisingly, that new confidence pays back dividends. Women reported that “strangers were friendlier, that business colleagues listened to them with greater interest and that friends enjoyed being around them more” after their surgeries, the newspaper adds.
When asked about the side effects of surgery, 40% of the women experienced some temporary nipple numbness, but only 2% reported persistent numbness.
Dr. Thomas W. Loeb is a nationally renowned, board-certified Manhattan plastic surgeon who has been in business for over 25 years.
